Where we stayed in Sorrento

To plan and prepare for our trip I did some research on trip advisor and booking.com.  We considered staying in Airbnb accommodation however we didn’t want to be too far out of the centre of the action and we couldn’t find anything suitable during our desired dates.  So…we decided to splurge and stay at a hotel on the coast in a room with a view and it certainly added to our WOW factor when we checked in and indeed for our whole stay.  We did contemplate whether to base ourselves in Sorrento or Positano.  After reading reviews I came to the conclusion that Positano was more scenic but also more expensive and that Sorrento was a great base from which to explore.  So, it was decided.  We would spend 5 nights in Sorrento at Hotel Corallo (4.5 Stars) on the Coast.

Arrival and check in

When we arrived at Hotel Corallo in the village of Sant’ Agnello we were quite surprised by how beautiful the hotel and surrounds were. Corallo means coral in English. To get to the hotel, we flew from Brisbane to Manchester and then from Manchester to Naples airport.  We had pre-booked a taxi to take us from Naples airport to Sorrento which takes approximately 1 hour. Arriving early afternoon, the weather was very windy but sunny. A friendly greeting from the hotel staff with a welcoming limoncello made us super excited to check in to our room. The hotel provided a free shuttle bus service to and from Sorrento town centre, departing several times a day, which was a bonus especially for returning to the hotel in the evenings.

First impressions and exploring the surrounds

Sant’ Agnello is a very old village bordering Sorrento. There is a sheer and dramatic drop of 55m from the cliffs (on which our hotel is perched) to the sea. We enjoyed our first walk out to explore the area and these are a few moments captured, including our first facebook couple pic, as we set out to familiarise ourselves with our surroundings.

Food at Hotel Corallo

Our hotel booking included breakfast fit for a king, well at least a little prince, so most days we ate a good breakfast and then waited until dinner for our next meal, with some snacks in between. Whether you prefer Continental, fully cooked or just savouring some local sweets with your coffee there is something on offer for everyone in the dining room at breakfast time. You do feel like it’s good to brush your hair and dress at least smart casual as the staff are very professional and on hand to assist. Here are some pictures of the delightful breakfast on offer. It was such a joy to wake up to this!

Departure and check out

All good things must come to an end so indeed our D-Day or Departure Day did arrive, if a little too soon for us. As we waited for our shuttle bus to take us back to Naples airport, we did what all dedicated travellers do and grabbed a few more happy snaps of our accommodation for the album. Hotel Corallo it’s been a pleasure!! Until next time…
